PORTRAIT PRACTICE: TYRION

A Lannister always pays his debts

Graphite and charcoal pencils on a Stillman & Birn sketchbook – 150 gsm ivory, vellum surface.

This is my 3rd portrait ever. I’m quite happy with the likeness, there are a lot of things to improve (I need to do a serious study of eyes and lips) but I’m starting to think I can do portraits. I could have spent a lot more hours polishing details and I’m humming an harring as if to try to be more realistic, just to test my technique; but I quite like drawings to be unfinished and rough at the edges (sort to speak). Something to ponder on I guess!

If you’re not familiar with Games of Thrones, or if I failed miserably, the portrait is of Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) who is a character from Games of Thrones 🙂
