Commission FAQ

Do you create illustrations digitally or traditionally?

I use a flexible hybrid approach! Depending on the project’s requirements and budget. My process usually starts with either traditional pencil sketches on paper or straight to digital on my tablet. More often, I scan the initial sketch or inked artwork and handle the colouring and final rendering digitally.

What is your commission rate?

Because every commission is unique, pricing is tailored to each project. I provide custom quotes based on the specifics, considering factors like:

  • Scope and Complexity: The level of detail, the number of characters or elements, and the complexity of the background all influence the time required.
  • Client Type: Rates may be structured differently for major publishers, small businesses, or private individuals.
  • Deadline: Projects requiring a faster turnaround than standard timelines may incur rush fees.
  • Usage Rights: The manner and location in which the artwork will be used (e.g., personal enjoyment, book cover, website, merchandise) influence the licensing fee.
  • Original Artwork Purchase: If you wish to purchase the physical, traditional artwork (sketch or inked piece), this is priced separately from the digital files and usage rights.

Please get in touch with details about your project for a personalised quote.

Who owns the copyright to the artwork?

As the creator, I retain the full copyright to the artwork under the laws of the United Kingdom. When you commission me, you are typically purchasing usage rights for specific, agreed-upon purposes. Transferring the full copyright is possible but involves a separate agreement and an additional fee.

How long will a commission typically take?

Timelines vary depending on the project’s complexity and my current schedule. Generally, you can expect a turnaround time of approximately 2-6 weeks from the date the initial deposit is received. I can provide a more specific estimate once we’ve discussed the details of your commission.

What is your payment process?

I currently accept payments via PayPal only.

Once we agree on the project scope and quote, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your slot in my schedule and begin work.

The remaining 50% balance (plus any shipping costs if you are purchasing original artwork) is due upon completion, before the final high-resolution digital files or physical artwork are delivered.

What is your revision process?

The commission fee typically includes 1 to 3 rounds of reasonable revisions at the sketch stage. This is the best time to provide feedback and request changes. Significant changes requested after the sketch approval or during later stages may incur additional charges. Clear communication from the beginning helps make sure the final piece aligns with your vision.

How do I commission you? / How can I get a quote?

The best way to start is to submit a form on the Contact Page or send me a message on LinkedIn. Please provide as much detail as possible about your project, including:

  • A clear description of the subject matter is provided.
  • Any preferences regarding style or mood?
  • The intended use of the illustration (e.g., personal, web, print).
  • Required dimensions or format.
  • Your desired deadline.

The more information you provide, the quicker and more accurately I can give you a quote and timeline.

Do you have favourite subjects to illustrate?

I have a soft spot for fantasy and sci-fi themes and enjoy delving into human anatomy. I particularly love character design – exploring the details that bring figures to life, as they are often the heart of the story!

Can you work in different styles?

Yes, I can adapt my style. While my natural comfort zone sits somewhere between realism and anime influences, I can certainly push towards either end of that spectrum depending on the project’s needs. Let’s talk about the specific look you’re aiming for.

Is there anything you won’t draw?

I reserve the right to decline commissions featuring subject matter I find overly objectionable. I do not accept commissions for pornographic or hentai artwork.

It's all about teamwork!

Being entrusted with someone’s vision is a real privilege. I know how much it means to the client—and I share that excitement. To deliver my best work, I need to feel inspired by the subject and fully satisfied with the final layout. Every piece must meet my own professional standards.

That’s why, for example, if I feel your chosen colours aren’t quite right, I’ll ask you to trust my judgment. While the final artwork might not match the exact image you had in your mind, you can be confident that I’ll do everything I can to bring your vision to life—beautifully and faithfully.
